Army of Gears
Chp.3 "Denied"
The man turned around to fact it, staring up at it with questioning eyes.
"No such option? That's absurd! I programmed it into the commands myself!"
The machine straightened up with another burst of steam, its head sweeping from left to right again, looking at the crowd.
"No CoMmAnDs ReQuIrInG tHe ReLeAsE oF iDeNtIfIeD tArGeTs EmBeDeD wItHiN pRoGrAmMiNG.," the machine stated in its monotone voice...its cold, emotionless voice that it was given.
"RaNdOm SeLeCtIoN aCtIvAtEd To SoLvE DiLeMmA."
The man panicked, looking around the arena t the many people packed in. He wasn't scared for them, even he knew that, but he was frightened of the thought of how his career would end up.
He practically yelled into the microphone when he had grasped the microphone and tried to say, "Everyone, evacuate the building immediately!"
The people inside of the arena ran for the doors, pushing and shoving the others around them, trying to get out as fast as they could possibly manage. Only the man who had spoken to them stayed behind, looking up at his creation.
"ReSoLuTiOn DeLaYeD dUe To EsCaPe Of TaRgEtS.," the machine stated, the whirring from it reducing to almost no sound at all. It had risen during the much unneeded confusion in the arena due to the operating systems within the machine.
The man sighed, walking in a circle around the machine, looking at a few of the visible parts without stopping, looking especially at the left arm.
The gaze of the machine followed him as he walked, the only time no having him in sight was when he was behind it.
"WhAt ArE mY cOmMaNdS, mAsTeR?"
The man sighed and stood beside the machine, running his fingers down on the cold metal.
"Your only command, possibly you last command from me, is to shut down immediately."
A small burst of steam, one without as much force as the others had had, blew from the machine's back.
"ShUt DoWn?"
"Yes, I want you to shut down. Now."
The machine's head moved a bit, the 'eyes' seeming to look around. Unexpectedly, a larger burst of steam, with much more force than the others, blew from its back.
"CoMmAnD...dEnIeD."
